Desktop Publishing (DTP) plays an essential, albeit sometimes unseen, role in the translation process. Beyond translating the text, reproducing its original formatting in the final document is often required – a task that can pose challenges equal to the translation itself. At times, this requires building the formatting from the ground up, especially in the case of translations from scanned documents. Even when this isn’t needed, variations in text length between source and target languages often necessitate alterations such as resizing fonts, repositioning graphics, adjusting spacing, and more.
